What Makes Us Distinct
Many churches hold to the Bible. But Reformation Churches are committed to building local fellowships that go back to the Bible in every area of church and home life. Here are our distinctives:
Biblical Authority
The Bible is the inspired, inerrant, and sufficient Word of God. It is our final authority for what we believe and how we live.
Scripture: 2 Timothy 3:16–17, Psalm 19:7–11, Matthew 4:4
Expository Preaching
We are committed to verse-by-verse, Christ-centered preaching that explains what the Bible says and how it applies to us today.
Scripture: Nehemiah 8:8, 2 Timothy 4:2, Acts 20:27
Regenerate Church Membership
Our churches are made up of baptized believers—people who have repented of sin and trusted in Jesus Christ alone.
Scripture: Acts 2:38–41, Romans 6:3–5, 1 Corinthians 12:12–13
Family Discipleship
We believe the primary spiritual responsibility for children belongs to the parents—not the church. Fathers are called to lead the home in worship, instruction, and love.
Scripture: Deuteronomy 6:6–9, Ephesians 6:4, Psalm 78:5–7
Biblical Gender Roles
We affirm that men and women are equal in value, but have distinct, God-given roles in the home and the church.
Scripture: Genesis 1:27, 1 Timothy 2:12–14, Titus 2:3–5, Ephesians 5:22–33
Male Eldership
We believe the role of elder/pastor is reserved for qualified men as outlined in Scripture.
Scripture: 1 Timothy 3:1–7, Titus 1:5–9, 1 Corinthians 14:33–35
Congregational Worship
Our music is theologically rich, rooted in Scripture, and sung for the glory of God and the good of the church.
Scripture: Colossians 3:16, Ephesians 5:19, Psalm 95:1–7
Intentional Fellowship
We foster deep relationships through hospitality, small gatherings, and church-wide encouragement.
Scripture: Acts 2:42–47, Hebrews 10:24–25, Galatians 6:2
Evangelism & Outreach
Every believer is called to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ and make disciples in their community and beyond.
Scripture: Matthew 28:18–20, Romans 1:16, 2 Corinthians 5:20
Biblical Sexuality
We affirm God’s design for sex and marriage as between one man and one woman for life.
Scripture: Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4–6, 1 Corinthians 6:9–11
Careful Continuationism
We believe there is no biblical warrant for strict cessationism. Scripture is clearly pro-spiritual gift. We are committed to both proving all things (1 Thessalonians 5:21) and allowing for the Holy Spirit to give gifts to whomever He will for His own glory (1 Corinthians 12:11)
We reject the excesses and abuses often seen in the modern charismatic movement.
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 12–14, Romans 12:6–8, 1 Thessalonians 5:19–21
